PetPals is owned and operated by Sami Saunders who is a passionate animal lover and animal owner. She grew up on a small farm in Wales in the UK and attended to many animals from a young age. She comes from a family of cat lovers and on the farm grew up with two adopted strays.
During her teenage years her family adopted 4 more ferrel cats which they brought back to health, neutered and slowly gained their trust before welcoming them into their family. A few years later they added 4 more silver bengals to the family, so cats have been a big part of Sami’s life.
Sami is very patient and empathetic towards all animals large and small and has a real interest in making sure that they are safe, happy and cared for at all times.
Following a successful career as a freelance Designer she has now combined her love for animals with her business management experience providing a dedicated and reliable pet care service. She lives in Pyes Pa with her husband, 3 SPCA cats, 4 ex-battery chickens and is currently fostering an Angora bunny called Blossom.
Sami holds the following animal care qualifications:
- New Zealand Certificate in Animal Care (L3)
- CPD Certificate in Pet Sitting
- CPD Certificate in Pet First Aid
She is also currently studying a CPD Certificate in Pet Psychology.
During her spare time she volunteers for Tauranga SPCA helping to take care of their cats and small animals. With a background in design, Sami also likes to help animal charities out with their branding and website designs.
